Made in California 2024 Juror

The Brea Gallery is very excited to announce Megan Debin as our 2024 Made in California Guest Juror. Dr. Megan Lorraine Debin is a passionate Art History educator at Fullerton College, the artistic visionary behind Youtube series Art Trippin and travel guide.

Megan earned a PhD in Art History, with a major in Latin American art and a minor in Ancient Indigenous arts, from the University of California, Los Angeles. She also holds an MA in Latin American Studies and a BA in Art History and Italian.

While her pedagogical interests center on collaboration, technology, innovation and the anti-racist classroom, her major research interests include contemporary performance and land art, global indigenous arts, social justice, and feminist, activist, and street art.

Her current research focuses on violence, trauma, healing, cleansing, and the body in contemporary Mexican art. Dr Debin’s  dissertation “Body Traces: Contemporary Art against Violence in Mexico (1968-2012)” benefitted from the support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and UC Mexus.

Megan joins Brea Gallery Director, Katie Chidester and the curatorial staff as the ajudicators of the 2024 Made in California juried exhibition.
