Found objects and tactile materials are my visual shorthand for exploring innate versus imposed femininity. The tension between organic materials and constructed artifacts draws viewers into the conflict.

Rabbits are regularly present suggesting women’s vulnerability and the roles we assume to survive in a dangerous world. Media pushes us to wear a mask: sex object, earth mother, corporate boss. In reality, those rigid roles don’t reflect the constant flux; women do what they must. Earth mothers struggle against the never-ending round of chores but cute, little bunnies sometimes roll up their sleeves and stand up to bullies.

Pushing stereotypes to the extreme of caricature is funny; the viewer is invited to join the laughter.
