Ferris Martinez

Influenced by a love of Renaissance art and the modern graphic novel, the work of Ferris Martinez has never strayed far from the representational. This piece, however, marks a decisive turn towards more unfamiliar territory, incorporating vibrant color, abstraction and a partial rendering of the figure – three elements largely absent of earlier paintings.

The emphasis on narrative with “Aphantasia / Production” serves as another stark departure from previous work, with aesthetic choices largely driven by a more deliberate thematic exploration of identity, dissonance and self-alienation.
