REBEKAH WAITES IS A MULTI-AWARD-WINNING INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED ARTIST WHOSE WORK HAS BEEN EXPERIENCED BY THOUSANDS AROUND THE WORLD.

Rebekah’s 2013, Burning Man Honorarium-winning installation Church Trap, was featured in multiple major art publications including Taschen’s, “Art Of Burning Man" as well as numerous news articles, TV shows, and documentary films. Church Trap was a favorite for many who experienced the exhibit in 2013 and has become an iconic piece.

Her third Honorarium-winning installation, Singularity, was also a huge success not only at Burning Man but also at other festivals throughout California including the All Of Us Event in 2018 and Maker Faire Bay Area 2019.  Singularity was featured in numerous “Must See” news articles featuring the art at Burning Man in August of 2018. Currently, Singularity has been enjoyed by thousands outside of Burning Man at numerous exhibits throughout California. Most recently it was selected for the 2nd Annual Pulse of LA 2019 exhibition sponsored by SCWCA.

Rebekah’s sculpture Ripple Effect was a grant recipient for the Everywhen event in the Mojave Desert in October 2021. Her most recent large scale installation, Relevé was part of the Radical Horizons: The Art Of Burning Man exhibit that took place at The Chatsworth House estate located near Manchester, UK.

Rebekah’s work is not without controversy. Her imagination and execution of her craft are bold and captivating. Similar to her installation pieces, Rebekah’s mixed media work is thoughtfully executed while maintaining her humorous perspective on the world.  By using found objects, drug paraphernalia, recycled materials, or materials sourced from the exhibition surroundings, Rebekah’s mixed media and installation work explores controversial themes such as addiction, religious dogma, and women’s rights. Her most recent mixed media piece “American Dream” was part of the Burning Man Auction at Sotheby’s in New York and that was part of a last minute bidding war that resulted in the work auctioning off for over 3 times Sotheby’s estimated value.

When Rebekah is not creating interactive art for Burning Man, she can be found producing new pieces in her studio located in Downtown Los Angeles.  Rebekah and her partner Lisa, live with their dog Hazel in Marina Del Rey, California.
