Corinne Cobabe

Corinne has found photography to be her calling since she was given her first camera at age nine. In addition to her fine art, Corinne shoots for portrait, architecture, design and commercial clients. She is also the author of The Five Wisdoms Project, a collection of portraits and personal philosophies from around the world.

Arrested Decay is an ongoing project in which I’ve been exploring age, beauty and transformation through flowers and other organic material I collect from local environments and freeze into blocks of ice. This process captures a moment in an inevitable organic cycle which, through my lens, feels a bit like a window into a hidden world. This work is about questioning conventional notions of beauty. So many of us want to stop time. We want to remember our faces, bodies, milestones, and creative achievements in moments of perfection. Photography can do that – in a way. But in the end, we’re all subject to the same organic process as the dying flowers in these images. Fortunately, there’s great beauty to be found within them. All we have to do is care to look.
