Annette Heully

Annette Heully, an internationally exhibited artist, earned her MFA from California State University at Long Beach with an emphasis in Fiber. She received her BA from San Francisco State University with an emphasis in Textiles. She has over 20 years weaving experience, which not only include her artistic career but production weaving for fashion and interior designers. She has taught in many different forms from workshops, private clients, and at the university level. She currently lives and works in her home town Ojai, California.

In this particular work, Heully depicts a poetic visual representation of two very different entities: weaving and water. The artist highlights the interchangeable nature that retospection has internally and externally.

The entire cloth is interconnected and every thread interacts and influences the rest. Just like water, a subtle variation can affect the entire plane and ripple with everything it’s connected with. Just like our actions, what we do ripples out to the rest of the world.
